In 2026, PyCon AU happens to also run on Wear It Purple Day. We encourage everyone to wear purple to show your support for young LGBTQIA+ communities.
Wear It Purple is a volunteer and youth led not-for-profit organisation, working towards raising awareness for young LGBTQIA+ communities. By wearing purple on Friday 28 August, you can show your support, advocacy and allyship to the next generation of LGBTQIA+ youth, including those who are just entering the Python communities around us today.
Until 9am AEST on Tuesday 4 August 2026, you can also request your conference t-shirt to be purple. All orders for a conference shirt will offer you the option to opt in to a purple shirt. If you have already ordered your conference shirt, you can update your order to request a purple shirt up until the same cut-off.
You'll be prompted to answer a question about your shirt after you've selected the products & add-ons.
Visit your order page by clicking the link in your order email. You can request the email again directly from pretix.
Yes! If you purchase additional shirts, you can request one (or both) to be in purple.
Absolutely! Requesting your PyCon AU 2026 shirt to be purple is optional. Dress it up, or down, if its purple we'd love to see it! Just remember our Code of Conduct (so leave the purple budgie smugglers at home) ;)
We'll be wearing purple on Friday 28 August (which is Wear It Purple Day). That coincides with the Cybersecurity and Education specialist tracks as well.
This is entirely optional. If your workplace limits your ability to wear purple or support causes publicly there's no obligation to you.
Wear It Purple has a donation page on their website at https://www.wearitpurple.org/donate
Absolutely! Email contact@pycon.org.au with your order code and we'll help you out. It also helps if you email from the same email on your order so we know its you.
