We invite any conference attendee to this session. You do not need to have a job title associated to DevRel. Developer Relations is about the developer community of those who use technology and products, so please join us in discussions around this subject.
Unconferences are created by the people who show up. We are holding this session in an “open space” format (see the Open Space format description borrowed from another series of conferences).
At the start of this session, we will hold an opening of the space (describing the format), and then a brief topic selection time. Attendees are welcome to pitch discussion topics they want to discuss. No topic is preseeded or bookmarked, topics are only proposed by those who propose them. We ask that topics are related to DevRel and community building. Topics can be continuations of the topics of previously presented talks. Attendees will then vote on which topics they need, the amount of topics to be selected will depend on the space available in the room.
Then, a series of breakout sessions will occur. These are often 30 minute guided discussions, where the topic initiator will present their topic, and help curate a conversation. This helps ensure that anyone who wishes to contribute to the discussion is able to do so. These open discussions are designed to be collaborative. If you have a topic that you want to talk at people about, we invite you to submit a presentation to the world famous PyCon AU lightning talks.
We will endeavour to make sure that topics conclude at a common time so that people can choose to move spaces to the next topic.
As an attendee, keep in mind these four tenants of open spaces:
As one of the last events of the conference, we hope that this space helps provide a “mega hallway” of opportunity to discuss many and any of the topics seen at the conference, and during the earlier sessions of the DevRel track. We hope you are able to join us.

They are a Developer Relations Engineer at Google Cloud, and a previous PyCon AU organiser.
When they’re not changing the world, they enjoys cooking, making tapestries, and seeing just how well various application stacks handle emoji.
