Lightning talks are presented by YOU! Yes you! 🫵
Everyone at PyCon AU is invited to submit a 5 minute lightning talk before morning tea on Thursday. Presentations are selected by conference and speakers are notified promptly before lunch. You’ve then got just a few hours to collect your thoughts and share something fascinating with the audience the very same day. Submission details will be announced on-the-day and are typically submitted to the registration desk.
Lightning talks cover any manner of topics. No really, we mean it. Anything. Keep it fun, keep it whimsical, and keep it snappy.
Speakers have strictly 5 minutes, after which they are thanked for their talk with raucous applause as the next talk commences.
Daisy is a software developer based in Narrm/Melbourne and previously Tarntanya/Adelaide. She was the Conference Director of PyCon AU 2023 and PyConline AU 2020, Track Organiser of DjangoCon AU 2018-19, and has presented talks at PyCon AU, Kiwi PyCon, Linux.conf.au, and CampJS. She is passionate about well-designed APIs and dresses with pockets, and is more afraid of you than you are of her.
Nic is a Staff Performance Engineer in Snowflake’s Applied Performance Group, specifically working on Snowpark. He collaborates closely with engineers developing in Python, Java, Scala and JavaScript.
