If Australia's electoral districts were drawn just a bit differently (or by a lot), how much would that change election results?
The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) controls electoral boundaries in Australia - they do a fantastic job. They also provide us with voting data that shows us how different booths vote. Could we take this data and become the anti-AEC?
In this talk we will explore AEC data, discuss its limitations and see what other data sources we can combine it with. We will learn why coordinate systems are hard and what python GIS packages we can use to make our lives easier. We will see the wonders of integer programming - AI before it was cool - and see why the AEC is essential.
