In 2026, PyCon AU happens to also fall on Wear It Purple Day (Friday 28 August), and we’re planning to celebrate in style!
Wear It Purple Day is a volunteer and youth-led not-for-profit organisation, working towards raising awareness for young LGBTQIA+ communities. By wearing purple on Friday 28 August, you can show your support, advocacy and allyship to the next generation of LGBTQIA+ youth, including those who are just entering the Python communities around us today.
As part of wearing it purple at PyCon AU, we’re giving everyone the option to request their conference shirt in purple! Simply update your order to opt-in before 9am AEST on 4 August 2026. Check out these instructions to learn how.
We’d also encourage everyone to wear purple on Friday 28 August to show your support. There’ll be an opt-in group photo during the day for everyone who would like to participate.
And, we’ll have a unique sticker to collect too - but more on that “soon”.
